Scéal
My 10th grade i2 project is focused on the creation of Scéal, a digital magazine for SHC teens focused on building empathy through storytelling. My project originated in the 9th grade when I explored the issue of empathy building in teens. The problem in today’s world is that teens often live in a perpetual echo chamber, something that can often lead to the polarization of opinions. Nineteen percent of teens say that news on social media confuses them more about current events. Plus only two percent of screen time from teens is devoted to content creation. It is important for society that teenagers develop empathy, creativity, and critical thinking skills so that they may contribute to society in a meaningful way as adults. Scéal is my exploration of this issue.
