i2 2025-26 Project Idea

My idea for a project this year is to create a tool that can help make using and creating sheet music easier. There are multiple functions that I am exploring as a possibility and hopefully will be able to implement. First, I want to create a tool that lets you simply take a photo of a piece of sheet music and analyze it, and be able to play it, convert it for different instruments, turn it into guitar tabs, transpose it, etc. Another functionality that I am considering is having the tool be able to listen to music being played out loud and transcribe it onto sheet music. For this idea, realistically only one note at a time will be doable, but it’s possible that with enough time it will be able to hear multiple at once, I’m not sure how viable that is.
