Hello, my name is Andrew Chen and I’m a freshman here at SHC. I went to NDV from K-8th grade and I am excited to be a part of the i2 community. My favorite classes are Science, Social Studies, and Math. So far this year, my favorite has been World History because we are learning about the big bang and the early universe. Outside of classes, I am part a few extracurricular activities. I joined the SHC cross country team, which has been a lot of fun since I enjoy running. I am also part of the SHC concert band. I have played the piano since I was 6, and I have enjoyed it a lot. I also plan to apply for student council and join some clubs. In my free time, I enjoy golfing, playing basketball, and reading. I read very often and my favorite genres are mystery, dystopian, and sci-fi novels. I also volunteer at my local library, where I help librarians and participate in the tech help program. During tech help times in the library, I help anyone who has any questions or needs any help with their technology. This year, my project will focus on supershoes, a popular type of performance running shoes. Supershoes utilize carbon fiber plates to improve energy rebound, but the carbon fiber isn’t eco-friendly. I seek to find and develop an eco-friendly alternative to supershoes.
