Hi! My name is Andrew Chen, and I’m a freshman here at SHC.

I was born and raised here in San Francisco with my mom, dad, and younger brother. I attended NDV from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Within school, I am involved in many co-curriculars. I joined the Cross Country team, and so far I have been having a lot of fun (however, my legs would like to differ). In addition, I joined the Concert Band, and I am looking forward to performing at the Bruce Mahoney games. I have also joined several clubs such as AASU, French Club, Sports Medicine, and TEDxYouth at SHC.

Outside of school, I play the piano. I have played since I was 6, and I have been part of multiple classical ensembles and jazz bands. I have performed with the Community Music Center in quartets and trios, and I have also played in the jazz band for the Cazadero Performing Arts Camp.

I also spend most of my weekends volunteering at the West Portal Branch of SFPL. I started volunteering in the summer of 2024, and I’ve had a great experience volunteering.

My family and I enjoy going on hikes, bike rides, and playing board games. I also love reading, especially sci-fi, dystopian, and adventure novels.
