Hello! I’m (mini) Mason Mineses, a SHC class of 2029 student and an All Souls Catholic School class of 2025 graduate. I am currently a resident of South City who plays baseball for the San Francisco Seagulls.
This year I am enrolled in World History 1,2, Spanish 1,2, Introduction to Religious Studies, English 1,2, Advanced Algebra Two, Physics, and, of course, the i2 Program. I find all of these classes to be quite enjoyable, but I think I enjoy Spanish 1,2 the most. Not to say that my grade school failed to teach me, but at my old school, we barely scratched the surface of the fundamentals of the language of Spanish. Going into my freshman year, I thought I’d be so far behind and unable to comprehend the new language. However, at SHC, not only do I not feel behind, but I am learning Spanish at what I personally believe is an extraordinary rate.
Now, about the athlete part of my life. Most of my kid to teenager life has been revolving around sports, specifically baseball, from as young as 5 years old to now and hopefully far into my bright future. From 5 years old to 10 years old, I was treating baseball as just a fun activity I did outside of school. I was only playing in San Bruno Baseball’s little league, which didn’t exactly allow me to take baseball to the next level. However, at the age of 10, turning 11, I was recommended by my coach to try out for the league’s All Star team, which would take me to that next, competitive level. And so, I tried out and was able to join San Bruno Baseball’s All Star team! Playing for that team allowed my parents to recognize that I wasn’t half bad, so they signed my up to try out for a travel baseball team, the San Francisco Seagulls, whom I continue to compete in baseball tournaments for.
This year, my i2 project will be about the conversion of kinetic energy to electricity using generators. Next year, I am most likely going to build off this project and incorporate it into everyday actions.
