A day after implementing our bean bags in the DePaul location, we realized that a nap zone in DePaul would be inefficient, and we were almost ready to give up on the location. Since students could relax on the comfortable couches in the DePaul lobby, they would have no use for our nap zones. (However, we didn’t notice that the couches in DePaul are mainly used for studies.) My sister and I decided to continue anyway, and advertise our nap zones further through the SHC textbook marketplace. In the following 24 hours, we received over 50 likes on our post, as many students expressed interest in our nap zones, in both DePaul and in the Atrium. Our current plan would continue…
We also wanted to consider other options, in case our current locations failed- one of these options being the area at the top of the stairs, just before you pass the chapel to enter the library. (Our request to use a space INSIDE THE LIBRARY was denied, as the library is mainly used for academic purposes only.) We have seen many students napping and eating in this area during lunch, making a mess of this space. In terms of this location, our goal is to make it a nap zone, so this area would be less messy and more restful.
