About The Project

ASLearner

ASLearner is an interactive program that tracks a user’s hand movements in ASL and translates it to the English alphabet. It is an idea that we had in order to bring more awareness and help people learn ASL more accurately and in a more interactive way. The idea is it uses machine learning to detect what sign you’re making at the camera and use that information to keep track of what signs you make. This will be used in games or quizzes where the student can practice their ASL in a possibly more meaningful, interesting, and interactive way then simply looking in the mirror. The hope is that the project can make learning ASL more convenient and simple, which would help the millions of people that rely on ASL to communicate have more people that can understand them.
